AMERICA - THE GLOBAL POLICE

The United States of America has officially become the most hated and loathed country in the world. Granted the US is number one in many other aspects, but as far as reputation goes not so much. The country's Obsessive Compulsory Disorder to police the entire world has not only bought its citizens bulls eye targets but also tarnished the reputation of the once mighty power that commanded respect and awe in the world.
Every country at a point in time wanted to be the US. The ideals and path set by the leaders of this nation once resonated the common collective feeling. But now the US has strayed past its ideals and even further. It is time for the US to officially give up their role as 'protector of the realm' and resort back to being the cradle of the American Dream. The country has racked up close to 17 trillion dollars deficit in its countless and pointless wars. The US now needs to concentrate more to strengthen its once dominant economy. We have to ask ourselves if the US is no longer the police, a question arises who then? The United Nations would be the next logical option. But how can a puppet organization run by the Security Council(comprising of US, UK, France, Russia and China) be any better.

US meddling has been disastrous

Several recent instances of the US meddling would be the Arab Spring uprising, which saw countries like Tunisia and Egypt overthrow theocracies for parliamentary democracy. In the case of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak was overthrown and in the aftermath election the Muslim Brotherhood won with a landslide majority. But this type of government was not to last. The army took over the control and Egypt was right where it started or even worse. Another example would be the current uprising in Syria, where the US backed rebels are fighting the forces loyal to Assad. The only outcome achieved was the civilian death toll in the hundred thousand and one of the largest refugee camps ever built. What we have to consider is the fact that these countries have flourished under theocratic society albeit they are Islamic in nature and that the US style democracy may not be applicable to everyone.

How does one get the call to interfere?

Only when the people of that particular nation requests intervention by a foreign body, should the UN or any other country for that matter respond. This should be the universal rule and all the concerned countries should abide by it.
